Bernard Cabarrou

France

Presentation

Bernard Cabarrou is a self-taught jack-of-all-trades with an insatiable curiosity, driven above all by a visceral need to create in order to understand. A freelance graphic designer (through his studio Cunning Studio), an active musician in several bands, and an avid writer, he is deeply passionate about culture. He has always worked in the arts and currently works in a performing arts venue in Toulouse.

His first real encounter with games came relatively late, through role-playing games, and then more seriously when he discovered Arkham Horror around 2010 – a revelation that sparked his interest in modern board games.
However, it was during personal research on French fantasy folklore that he developed his very first prototype, without yet realizing he was stepping into the world of game design.

His meeting with Forgenext happened at the Alchimie festival in Toulouse, where he crossed paths with Gaëtan Beaujannot – the beginning of a lasting collaboration and a genuine friendship.

He sees game design as a multidisciplinary practice, deeply connected to his other artistic pursuits. For him, whether it’s graphic design, music composition, or game creation, it all comes down to constraints, iteration, and channeled freedom.
